In this video, Remi Berube, DD, explains why denture adjustments are a normal part of the process and how your fit is managed and refined as your mouth heals and stabilizes.
Denture adjustments, whether for traditional dentures or implant-retained dentures, are normal and expected. They’re included in your treatment fees, and we can usually see you the same day if something is bothering you. Adjustments are especially common on the lower arch along the inside of the denture.
If you’re having extractions and receiving immediate dentures, you’ll likely need tissue conditioners during the healing phase. These materials line the inside of the denture and help your gums heal while the bone and soft tissue continue to change. As your mouth reshapes, we update the tissue conditioner to keep the denture fitting comfortably.
Once healing is complete and your bone and gums have stabilized, we move to a rebase or reline. This makes the denture fit more permanently and securely, giving you the final, long-term fit after the healing process is finished.

How long do dentures last? With good care and regular checkups, many dentures last several years, and Cleveland Clinic puts the average lifespan of a denture at about seven to 10 years. Your gums and jawbone keep changing after tooth loss, though, so most dentures need adjustments and relines along the way, and some need replacing sooner. At Big [...]

Denture adhesive can make a good denture feel more secure, seal out food particles, and give you extra confidence when you eat or speak in public. Used the right way, a small amount is all you need. Flexible dentures are removable partial dentures made from a thin, bendable resin, usually a type of nylon, instead of rigid acrylic and metal. Because the base and clasps can be tinted to match your gums, flexible dentures can replace missing teeth without the flash of metal that some people dislike about traditional partials. They can be an excellent choice [...]
