At Big Sky Dentures & Implants, we understand the desire to speed things up, especially if what you’re waiting for is new teeth! Dental implants are a great way to restore missing teeth, but they’re also notorious for long healing periods. Patients may go toothless for weeks at a time, struggling to function and hiding their smiles.
Fortunately, we have a faster solution. With mini dental implants, we can provide you with a brand new smile much sooner. In some cases, we may even be able to extract your teeth, place your implants, and provide your restoration all in the same day! Visit us in Missoula, MT, to learn how we make same-day dental implants possible.
Understanding Dental Implants
When missing teeth, it’s important to replace them as soon as possible. At Big Sky Dentures & Implants, we prefer to use dental implants! We embed these titanium screws in your jawbone to replace missing tooth roots.
While a natural tooth has a root that anchors into your jaw, an artificial tooth restoration does not. These roots are essential for both keeping your smile in place and stimulating your jawbone to keep it healthy and full. With dental implants, we replicate the security of your natural roots and stimulate your bone, preventing bone loss.
Once dental implants are inside your bone, they begin a process called osseointegration. This natural process enables the titanium of dental implants to integrate with your jawbone, forming a remarkably strong connection.
Using that connection as a foundation, we then replace missing teeth with implant-supported dental crowns, bridges, or dentures!
However, we prefer to use mini dental implants. These titanium posts are smaller than their more conventional counterparts, but just as strong and effective.
By using mini implants, we help eliminate long healing periods, save you money, and restore your smile faster! In fact, thanks to their minimally invasive procedure and fast-acting stability, we can extract your damaged teeth and place a mini dental implant in just one appointment!
The Same-Day Dental Implants Process
The same-day dental implants process is simple and effective, restoring your smile much sooner than a conventional implant can. As with all implant cases at our office, we begin with a consultation.
Consultation
During your initial appointment, we will examine your teeth and take a 3D digital X-ray of your smile. With this information, we assess the quality and quantity of your jawbone to determine if you’re eligible for same-day dental implants.
Fortunately, most patients are eligible, as mini implants require minimal bone for support! However, for those with significantly less jawbone structure, we provide bone grafting procedures that rebuild your jaw to accommodate dental implants.
Once we’ve determined that you’re eligible, we’ll create a treatment plan for your smile and take digital scans to design your custom restoration.
Extraction
When you arrive for your procedural appointment, we’ll use a local anesthetic to numb your mouth. Additionally, we offer safe and effective sedation dentistry to help keep you relaxed throughout your procedure!
Then, once you’re comfortable, we will extract any teeth that need removal.
At Big Sky Dentures & Implants, we use the innovative Piezotome CUBE! This special dental tool uses a less invasive extraction method that helps preserve gum and bone tissue. By minimizing damage to the surrounding areas of your extraction site, we expedite your recovery and make your healing process more comfortable.
Placement
Thanks to the gentle touch of the Piezotome CUBE, most patients have enough bone after an extraction to immediately support a mini implant.
These titanium posts are less than 3 mm in diameter, requiring only a small pilot hole in your bone for placement. Then, once we screw your titanium post in place, it will immediately begin stabilizing in your jaw!
Before you leave our office, we will attach a temporary (or final for snap-in dentures) restoration to your implants. These crowns, bridges, or dentures help protect your titanium post, keeping your smile both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Healing
After a few weeks of healing, we then replace your temporary restoration with a final, custom-made prosthetic. These restorations are crafted using the digital impressions we took of your smile, fitting perfectly over your implants and looking natural in your mouth.

Frequently Asked Questions
At Big Sky Dentures & Implants, we prioritize your comfort.
Not only do we use a local anesthetic before your procedure to numb your smile, but we also use minimally invasive methods that minimize discomfort! Using the Piezotome CUBE to extract your teeth and mini implants to replace them, we allow for a fast and more comfortable experience.
Additionally, if necessary, we provide sedation dentistry to help keep you relaxed. By inhaling nitrous oxide (also known as laughing gas) through a nose or mouthpiece, you quickly reach a more relaxed state. Then, once your procedure is over, simply inhale oxygen through the same nose or mouthpiece to flush the gas out of your system!
Dental implants are a permanent solution to tooth loss. With the right care, they can last for years to come, or even a lifetime! However, maintaining a good oral health routine is essential to keep your implants healthy.
Brushing twice a day (making sure to get at your gum line), flossing, and attending routine dental visits are essential steps to taking good care of your smile. When you maintain a healthy smile, your implants remain secure and stable in your mouth.
The cost of same-day dental implants depends on the number of teeth you’re replacing. Fortunately, mini implants are much less expensive than conventional dental implants! Even when restoring a full mouth of teeth, these titanium posts are more affordable thanks to their sleek design and simple placement procedure.
While insurance may cover part of your restoration, it typically won’t cover your implants, leaving patients with some out-of-pocket costs. To help make your care even more affordable, we partner with third-party financing companies! These flexible financing options help split your costs into more manageable payments. At Big Sky Dentures & Implants, patients on a budget can restore their smile.
